I recently discovered my new fave tea- Matcha Latte! Here is everything you might want to know about matcha. First and foremost, matcha is a form of green tea- is a finely ground powder made of Japanese green tea leaves.
Along with its vibrant green color, its popularity comes from being an anti-bacterial ingredient containing high levels of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is great for helping reduce inflammation and even skin tone.
If you know me then you probably know I hate coffee. Therefore, matcha is an awesome substitute and may I say healthier too. Of course, matcha contains caffeine, but instead of the jitters it gives you a clean energized high. It has definitely boosted my metabolism and helped me get by boring work days, all while acquiring nutrients. Matcha being a stroneground tealeaf, is far less processed than regular green tealeaves allowing all its nutrients to be preserved.
I usually take my matcha tea with almond milk and vanilla to give it more of a sweeter taste- it can be a little bitter. It has a fine and smooth feel to it. You could take it hot or on ice. I prefer mines hot!
Another reason as to why I've been loving this latte is because I've been dealing with acne for quite a while now- the antioxidants found in the matcha is helping with that. It is still a process however, I hope to share my long journey to achieving clear skin in another blog post.
In addition, matcha protects against heart disease and cancer, reduces blood pressure, and acts as an anti-aging. Well, that is all for today babes! Hope this blog makes you curious enough to order yourself a matcha green tea at your local coffee shop or Startbucks.
